MADE POPS UP FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

Yes we will be opening this weekend on Rose Inn Street just beside the Tourist Office. The doors open at 10am until 6pm this Saturday 26th November and 12pm-6pm on Sundays.

There is a wide selection from half our members and plenty of hand crafted gift ideas for Christmas.We will keep you posted with gifts made especially for the festive season.

This weekend sees another Savour experience coming to Kilkenny with various        cookery demonstrations and a huge assortment of stalls selling their delectable  delights. Made in Kilkenny is also participating. There will be a display of work from  some of the makers in The Pembroke Hotel on Patrick street.

Donal Skehan will be doing a demo in The Set starting at 11.00am. He will be using    pieces from some of the makers so it will be a perfect opportunity to see how    functional handmade crafts are.

Next weekend Moth to a Flame in Bennetsbridge is having a BIG SALE which will run until the end of September. The perfect time to stock up on your supplies with the evenings getting shorter.

 Thanks to everyone who turned out at the opening of  ‘A Makers Journey’ it was a great turn out and the show runs until Sun 14th so still some time to see it…

Opening evening was a great success and a big thank you to all of those that made it. For those of you that couldn’t make it hopefully we will see you during the week.

This Sunday evening MADE will feature on the Arts Show with Aisling Moore of KCLR 96fm. So be sure to tune in around 7.15 pm to hear Ed Keilthy and Hilary Jenkinson talk about the MADE Exhibition.

The invites have been sent the exhibition is almost hung and the wine and canapes will be a plenty for our opening.

We are privileged to have John Murray from RTE radio 1 to open the exhibition this Friday 5th August at 6.30pm. So please come and join us and tell your friends.

Congratulations to four of our MADE members who received prizes in this years RDS Craft Exhibition.

Carl Parker obtained 1st in the Precious Metal category and also 1st for The Company of Goldsmiths of Dublin. Jane Huston received 2nd in the same Goldsmith category.

Mark Campden of The Bridge Pottery received Reserve for the Award of Excellence and also 1st in the Functional Ceramics category.

Ken Foley obtained 2nd in the Leatherwork category.

through their personal process of
design, it explores the different
element taken into consideration
to create a successful, well
designed aesthetic piece of work.

Last week a few of the members of MADE in Kilkenny gathered at Kilkanny railway station to launch their exhibition for the Kilkanny Arts Festival.

This year the title is “The Makers Journey” (From Inspiration to Creation) The railway station was the perfect place for the launch where journeys begin and end. Tess Felder of The Kilkenny People met the makers and has written an article in this weeks issue.

The Exhibition will be held in Butler House, Patrick Street from 5th-14th August. Watch this space for more updates.
